Job Overview
The Maintenance Training and Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of our City Transit and Paratransit bus fleet. This position involves developing and implementing policies and procedures for mechanics, and other garage staff overseeing safety protocols in the garage. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, experience in electric vehicles, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the vehicle maintenance department. Strong ability to Identify, remedy and report hazards.
Salary $76,000-$82,000 based on experience and qualifications

Expected schedule: 8:00AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday Off Sat & Sun
Responsibilities and Duties
- Create, implement, and update maintenance policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist in the development of safety protocols within the garage, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions. Develop and implement training programs for mechanics on new technologies, SDS compliance, safety practices, and maintenance procedures, particularly related to electric vehicle systems.
- Supervise and mentor mechanics, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality maintenance standards. Ability to work on vehicles as well.
- Oversee daily maintenance operations, including scheduling work orders, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance for the bus fleet, with a particular focus on electric vehicles.
- Prepare reports or recommendations for management and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in maintenance operations and safety practices, promoting a culture of innovation and safety.
- Training employees in areas such as fork lift, commercial tire, hot works, lock out tag out, etc
Qualifications
- Must have 5 years’ experience in a bus, truck or auto maintenance facility or dealership in maintenance or management
- Strong knowledge of bus systems, including diesel and electric vehicle technology, as well as experience in troubleshooting and repair.
- Proven experience in developing and enforcing safety protocols in a garage, warehouse, or similar environment.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance management software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff effectively. Moderate computer skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
